Sales Representative Resume Example
A sales resume that leads with numbers: quota attainment, revenue, rankings and the accounts you won.
Sales managers read resumes looking for one thing first: did this person hit their number? Every role on a sales resume should show your quota, how you performed against it and how you compared with your peers.
This example is written for an outside B2B sales representative with five years of experience selling industrial supplies. Inside sales, retail sales and SaaS account executives can use the same structure with their own metrics.
Recommended resume format for a sales representative
Reverse-chronological, one page. Keep sales resumes to one page unless you have more than ten years of experience. Put quota attainment in the first bullet of each role and consider a short "Sales Achievements" line in your summary. Learn more in how to write a resume.

Education section guidance
A degree is often preferred but not always required for sales roles. List your degree briefly after experience.
Sales training programs and methodology courses can be added under Training or Certifications.
Common sales representative resume mistakes
- No quota numbers. A sales resume without numbers raises questions. Include attainment, revenue or rankings for every role.
- Vague claims. "Top performer" means little without proof. Say where you ranked and against how many peers.
- Listing duties. "Responsible for a territory" says nothing about results. Describe what you achieved in it.
- Inflated figures. Numbers are easy to check in interviews and reference calls. Keep them accurate.
ATS tips for a sales representative resume
- Use the job title from the posting, such as "Sales Representative" or "Account Executive", where it matches your role.
- Write numbers as digits, such as "121%", so they stand out and parse correctly.
- Name your CRM in your skills section.
- Keep awards like President's Club in plain text within your experience or an Awards section.
- Use a single-column layout for large employers.
