Students and Graduates resume example

College Student Resume Example

A college student resume that turns classes, projects, campus jobs and activities into evidence employers can use.

By CVCraftHub · Published · Updated

Employers hiring interns and students do not expect years of experience. They look for evidence that you learn quickly, take responsibility and can apply what you are studying. Projects, campus jobs, leadership roles and volunteering all count.

This example is for an undergraduate business student applying for summer internships. It puts education first, followed by experience, projects and activities, and shows the degree as in progress. On your own resume, add the month and year you expect to graduate. Students in any major can use the same structure.

Education first, one page. Put Education at the top while you are in school, and include your expected graduation date. Keep everything to one page. Read the student resume guide for more on what to include.

Education section guidance

Put Education first, with your degree, major, school and expected graduation date: the word "Expected" followed by the month and year.

Include your GPA if it is 3.0 or higher, honors, scholarships and relevant coursework. Remove high school once you are in college, unless you are in your first year.

Common college student resume mistakes

  • Thinking you have nothing to include. Class projects, campus jobs, volunteering and club roles are all valid experience.
  • Listing every course. Choose 3 to 5 courses that match the job.
  • Going over one page. Students should keep to one page.
  • An unprofessional email. Use your school email or a simple address with your name.
